Abstract

Objective: In this study, dentifrice of using tooth-brush was developed as to put the tooth surface as a film shaped dentifrice with the Zinc Chloride substance contained dentifrice.

Methods: Fifty-nine adults applicant (experimental group: 29, and control group: 30) were participated with the compensation for some money in this study. Dentifrice of film type shaped as a piece for attaching on the tooth surface with containing Zinc Chloride was in experimental group and no Zinc Chloride component with the same shaped dentifrice was supplied for the negative control group.

Results: It was estimated as desensitization effect by using the dentifrice of using tooth-brush containing ZnCl2 component for consistently in 2 weeks (p£¼0.05). There was significant different statistic in ice test for the desensitization effect between in two group (p£¼0.05). It revealed significant different statistic in air blow test for desensitization effect between in two group for every times from a day later to 14 days (p£¼0.01).

Conclusion: It was concluded that dentifrice of using tooth-brush dentifrice, containing 0.09% of ZnCl2 was effective for desensitization without any specific side effect, and recommended to use it by attaching their on the tooth surface for 10 minutes before toothbrushing.
